Adaptation, consistency, alignment ? Business Management Daily ...

I recently read an article in Inc. magazine about the ?5 Qualities of Remarkable Bosses.?? As someone niched in training administrative professionals, I feel strongly about adapting these skills to grow everyone?s career.

A central theme is that remarkable managers are remarkable be??cause of their actions and their consistency. Exactly the core theme in speaking your truth: Align your thoughts, words and actions to gain respect, credibility and results. What else?

1. Develop every skill. Two factors often stand in our way: being truthful with ourselves about our weaknesses and consistently taking action to improve them. Play to your strengths; however, real growth is when you stretch your comfort zone. Ask your supervisor ?Is there anything you?d like me to do differently? ?What am I currently not doing that would make either you or me more productive?? ?

2. Deal with problems immediately. First, change your language. It?s not a problem, it?s a challenge. Your mindset immediately changes to a more proactive approach. ?

3. Rescue your worst employee. You don?t need to be a supervisor to be part of an underperforming co-worker?s path to success. Rather than complain about a co-worker?s ineptitude, reach out. Show co-workers the patience and kindness they have shown you over the years. Mentor them. Be the person that throws them a lifeline.?

4. Serve others before yourself. While this is a valuable quality for every employee, don?t overdo it.? Ask yourself, ?Do I really need to set aside my own project/task/deadline/personal time to serve, or is there an alternative method or time to achieve both serving myself and others?? It is vital to learn tactful ways to assert ourselves with grace and teach people how to treat us.

5. Remember where you came from. We would all love leaders that appreciate where they came from. I?d like to flip this rule, too. Instead, always remember where you can go. Don?t get caught limiting beliefs or stating self-deprecating comments. ?

Consistently apply these five principles and align your thoughts, words and actions every step along the way.
