Nutritional Health And Fitness Management For Type 2 Diabetes ...

Diabetes is a chronic disease, where there are levels of sugar in the blood that are too high.? And considering the beneficial effects that good nutritional health and fitness can have on controlling blood sugar, diet and exercise are extremely important for managing type 2 diabetes.

The Center for Disease Control states that as of 2010, 25.8 million people in the United States have diabetes.? This statistic is of additional concern, because it estimated that 7 million of these people are undiagnosed ? meaning that they are living with all of the health risks from the disease, and don?t even know they have it.

This total is for those with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes, but seeing that over 27% may be undiagnosed is consistent with the nature of type 2 diabetes, which develops slowly, and may be occurring without symptoms.

And actually, it is though that over 40 million people have pre-diabetes or early type 2 diabetes, again with many of these people unaware of it.? Although this occurs mainly in adulthood, there are growing numbers of teens or younger adults being diagnosed as the result of higher obesity rates, along with spending more time sitting and being physically inactive.

The PubMed Health site notes that there is no way to prevent type 1 diabetes.? However, good nutritional health and exercise may prevent type 2 diabetes, because that would lead to keeping an ideal body weight and living and active lifestyle.
